When We Are In Trouble…

I vividly remember when I took this picture, approximately 20 years ago. The bigger boy had done something naughty to earn a stint in time out. His brother, even though he was the victim in the toddler crime, voluntarily joined his sibling for his brief jail sentence. As we go into Holy Week, this speaks to me on a whole other level. At some point this week, we’re going to fall short. We’ll sin, we’ll mess up, forget to love our neighbor, and we might even break a commandment or 2. While no one may stick us in time out, there will likely be consequences for our mistakes and poor decisions. The good news is we have a savior who will be right by our side through thick and thin. There’s nothing we can do that will send Him away if we only believe He died on the cross for us and acknowledge the areas where we miss the mark. Regardless of how badly we mess up, He will never leave us nor forsake us and HE paid the price to stand against the timeout wall with US! I hope this Holy Week provides you a fresh perspective on the gift of grace, and that as we receive it from our savior, we can extend it to others.
